Famous Quotes

Here are amusing “famous” quotes that I have gathered from around. They’re famous for a reason of their own and you’ll know when you read them.

Politicians

“Traffic jam means many people have the ability to buy cars, this shows the economic growth in our country.”
~ Ling Liong Sik, Former Transport Minister of Malaysia & ex-President of MCA

“The rise in crime rate means the economy of our country is doing well.”
~ Chor Chee Heung, MP of Alor Setar. (that’s why we have things for people to rob :-) ).

“Leak? Where’s the leak? (Member of) Batu Gajah also leaks every month!”
~ Bung Mokthar Radin, MP of Kinabatangan & Badruddin Amiruddin, MP of Jerai.

“婦女晚上睡覺時應裝扮得美美,噴上香水;就算穿得透視些也不要緊,對丈夫不必害臊。”
~ 馬華婦女組主席拿督黃燕燕醫生

“One caller told me last week that bullets are cheap,”
~ Kung Chin Chin, DAP candidate for Repok in the 2006 Sarawak state elections. She decided to contest as an independent for the Sarikei Parliamentary seat in the 2008 general election when not chosen as DAP’s candidate.

“I will never allow non-bumiputeras to enter UiTM. I will ensure that the percentage of Malay students given places at public universities will always be higher than the percentage under the previous quota,”
~ Former Higher Education Minister Shafie Salleh, Umno AGM, 2004.

“Malaysia ini Negara Islam, you tak suka, you keluar dari Malaysia.”
~ Badruddin Amiruddin, MP of Jerai.

“I told them I don’t understand why they gave a platform to an unwanted politician who has been rejected by the people. As an international broadcasting service, why not highlight DAP?”
~ Zainuddin Maidin, to BBC after the Machap By-elections in 2007 referring to Anwar Ibrahim. The Irony is that in the 2008 General Elections, Zam himself lost his Sungai Petani seat to Anwar’s party PKR. Before that, he was Merbok MP.

“Besok kirim, hari ini sampai!”
~ Samy Vellu, Former Works Minister of Malaysia who lost his own seat in the 2008 General Elections.

Do you think Penang people are stupid to support him (Guan Eng)? We Penangites are not stupid
~ Abdullah Badawi before the 2008 General Elections. The irony is that, Guan Eng was installed as the Penang Chief Minister after the elections.

“Umno has ruled Malaysia for 50 years and they can rule for another 50 years more. And Umno does not need PPP, MCA, MIC, Gerakan, Sabah, Sarawak or anyone else to do this”
~ Mohd. Ali Rustam, Chief Minister of Malacca & Vice President of UMNO. The irony is that PPP, MCA, MIC and Gerakan lost most of its seats in the 2008 General Elections and if UMNO were to lose its support from Sabah and Sarawak, it wouldn’t be able to rule anymore.

Animes

“It’s called a miracle because it doesn’t happen.”
~ Misaka Shiori (Kanon).

“Miracles aren’t supposed to happen that easily.”
~ Misaka Kaori (Kanon.

“I snuck out today to see someone. If they found out I came to school while I’m on leave, I’d be in trouble.”
~ Misaka Shiori (Kanon).

“What kind of magazine is a porno magazine?”
~ Sawatari Makoto (Kanon).

“Ugū never gets sick.”
~ Aizawa Yuuichi (Kanon). This is a joke on the actual phrase “Idiots never get sick.”

“Dammit, Grandma, stop eating my friends!”
~ Maaka Karin (Karin).

“Good luck, Naruto-kun.”
~ Hyuuga Hinata (Naruto).

“Oh, I’m not a little pervert! …I’m a big one!”
~ Jiraiya (Naruto).

“Sorry I’m late guys, a black cat crossed my path so I had to go the long way.”
~ Kakashi (Naruto).

“The title of Hokage is a piece of crap. Only an idiot becomes one.”
~ Orochimaru (Naruto).

“This is why women are so troublesome…”
~ Nara Shikamaru (Naruto).

“Feelings of love are just a temporary lapse in judgement. Like a mental illness.”
~ Suzumiya Haruhi (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).

“Hey, kiddo, that missy is gonna grow into a pretty lady, make sure you don’t let her out of your grasp!”
~ An old man (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).

“You definitely look cuter without your glasses.”
~ Kyon (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya).

“Sexual harassment warrants a one million yen fine!” ~ Nakahara Misaki (Welcome to the NHK).
