Tshung Tsin Students: Spoilt Brats?

May 29, 2008

http://wikimapia.org/563073/

Refer to the link above. The link goes to a world map and in it, Tshung Tsin is clearly noted. There has been several comments left in it and I find some of them rather disturbing. Some of the comments were directed at Tshung Tsin students being ’spoilt brats’ while there’s another commenter named Dei who had defended Tshung Tsin. While it is commendable that he or she had defended Tshung Tsin with hard facts, it is unfortunate that he or she had decided to go offensive against those who made negative remarks against Tshung Tsin, leading to those who subsequently arrive at the map to question the mentality of Tshung Tsin students. I have just left a comment on my views, and here’s the text:

I am a current Tshung Tsin student, and whoever Dei is, I’m disappointed with his or her mentality and rudeness. Please forgive him I ask you.

But one thing is for sure: we do learn Form 4 and 5 SPM Science in our syllabus in Form 1 to 3. Imagine how hard it is. >_<;

I also have to rebutt what Nigelman had said, that Tshung Tsin is “worst and most spoilt brat school in KK”, whatever that means. I agree with what tyra had said, that Tshung Tsin is NOT the best school, BUT Tshung Tsin is DEFINITELY NOT the worst school in KK. If you’re talking about spoilt brats, spoilt brats are everywhere, not only in Tshung Tsin.

Don’t get the wrong idea, guys. We who go to Tshung Tsin have to pay a substantial amount of school fees compared to government schools, and what do we get in the end? Being called spoilt brats? Just because we pay higher school fees do we entitle to be called spoilt brats? I don’t think so. In fact, you are wrong. Our parents want us to get better education so we were sent to Tshung Tsin. You think it is that easy to enter Tshung Tsin? You think anyone, including your next door neighboor in primary school who failed all of his exams can enroll into Tshung Tsin just like that? No! We have to take the entrance examination, and only the best get to be enrolled and if we were to fail our overall average, we have to stay back for another year!

We go to school to learn ah, ok, and the teachers in Tshung Tsin get paid lower than government school teachers, that’s for sure with the government not giving a sen at all to the school.

Think about it guys. I’m sure you guys who go to government schools get to be richer by at least RM250 a month, not having to pay school fees. So, who’s richer now?

Debate.

New Layout for Digimon Destiny

May 28, 2008

Yep, I’ve decided to change the layout of Digimon Destiny (down as I am writing this). It is about time, I guess. The last time I changed layout was like… in December 2005? LOL.

Featuring Biyomon’s Resolve (episode 12 or 14 of Digimon Savers, go watch it yourself, I’m not going to explain).

The banner turned out better than I had expected, at least Biyomon looked so cute and serious in the banner. Ahaha.

I’m only unsatisfied with the wordings in the banner. I could have done better with Photoshop. Haiz.

As of now, The layout is 80% done (still have to add Topsites, and other stuffs) and I’m now in the process of transferring data into the new layout too. Since the new layout is going to be powered by PHP, I have to rewrite every page manually into .txt files and make sure there are no broken links. I also take the opportunity to fix grammatical and spelling mistakes I have made in the articles (man, do I suck in English! There are so many mistakes here and there!). Right now the progress is about 30%-40% done and you can see it online here.

Ahahaha.

Malaysian Doctors - Licensed to Kill?

May 27, 2008

Parliament: Health deputy gets flak for Bond remark

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Health Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad became the target of several Opposition MPs on Monday when he let slip that doctors were “licensed to kill”.

Abdul Latiff had wanted to use the famous James Bond movie title License to Kill when replying to a question during Question Time.

He said doctors were given the “license to heal” as well as the “licence to kill.” Lim Guan Eng (DAP-Bagan) replied that only Bond has the license to kill but not doctors.

Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia said Dr Abdul Latiff did not intend to hurt anyone when he made the remark.

He however ordered him to retract the words upon request by other MPs.

Dr Abdul Latiff defended himself by saying that it was a figure of speech. He however retracted his words but would not apologise.

Looks like Malaysian doctors has taken up the role of James Bond. LOL. Shame shame to have a health minister like this. Haiz.

We Will Be Heroes… I guess.

May 26, 2008

This is the 11th English opening theme of the Pokémon anime. Read: that’s the eleventh. And for the win, it is sung by Kirsten Price, and a google search reveals her as a porn star. lol. But IMDb reveals that there are three artist with the name Kirsten Price, and the Kirsten Price that sung this OP is not a porn star. Good to hear.

I realise how outdated I am in Pokémon. I haven’t watched Pokémon since the Johto Journey, somewhere near Kurt and the Slowpoke Well. NTV7 decided not to broadcast it anymore on national TV from there on, and the best I could do to keep myself updated is to buy and watch the bootleg (read: pirated) version of the Pokémon movies like 4ever, Heroes, Jirachi Wishmaker, Destiny Deoxys and Lucario - thanks to the fact that the movies were never officially sold here in Malaysia, other than Mewtwo Strikes Back which Speedy licensed. Bleh.

People come and go. Like May and Misty, now they’re gone. I don’t even get to know much about May, and now she’s already been replaced by Dawn, a daijoubu girl I’ve heard.

***

“When I was in sixth grade, I went with my family to see a baseball game. I wasn’t really interested in baseball, yet when I went there, I was given a shock, since everywhere I looked there were people all around. The people at the opposite of the stadium were as small as a grain of rice, in constant motion. I had thought the whole nation had gathered upon this spot then. So I asked my dad how many people were at the stadium. My dad said as it was full that day, maybe around fifty thousand?

“After the game, the roads were packed with people. Seeing all this, I was stunned. There were so many people here, yet they were only a tiny fraction of the whole nation. I read in geography class that Japan had a population of a hundred million, so I went home and did some math using a calculator, and I found out that fifty thousand was only one out of two thousand of the total population. At that time, I was stunned again. I was only a small part of so many people in the stadium, and this many people were merely one out of two thousand of the whole nation.

“Before that, I had always felt myself to be special. I was happy with my family, and I felt I was with the world’s most interesting people in my class. Yet from that time on, I realized things weren’t like that. The experiences I had in school that I thought were the happiest things in the world, turned out to exist in every school. For the whole nation, this was nothing special. When I discovered that, the whole world around me lost its color. I brush my teeth and go to sleep, then wake up and have breakfast. You see these things everywhere.” - Haruhi, Volume 1 Chapter 6.

I understand the feeling Haruhi had, the feeling where she felt so small sitting in the stadium watching a baseball match. There were thousands of people overflowing the stadium to watch the match and everyone seemed so small. She felt so small, too. And then when she heard that the people in the stadium were only a small part of the population of the nation, she realise that she weren’t special, and the people she knew weren’t the most interesting in the world as she had always thought so.

You know why I can understand her feeling? This is because I am currently in her shoes. I’ve always thought that I’m the best in Pokémon and that I know a lot about Pokémon, because nobody around me seem to be better than me. But now when I realise that there are many out there, perhaps millions, that are better in Pokémon than myself, I feel tiny. I’ve always felt that I am special when I know things my friends do not about Pokémon, but now, I realise that it’s nothing special. It’s like what Haruhi said, you see this things everywhere.

“Do you ever get the feeling you’re just a small nail on this Earth?”

She continued, “I have, and I’ll never forget it.”

Singapore’s the winner of island the size of football field!

May 24, 2008

Sovereignty of Pedra Branca island goes to Singapore. In other words, there will be no more Pulau Batu Puteh.

However, Malaysia hasn’t lost it all… sovereignty of Middle Rocks and South Ledge goes to Malaysia.

Just one thing, Pedra Branca’s the size of a football field, but the size of Middle Rocks and South Ledge… is in fact only as big as a rock. What can you do on a piece of rock that appears only on low tide??

See? There’s only enough space for two people only!

They’ve Crossed The Line… Wenchuan Earthquake

May 21, 2008

As you all know that recently an earthquake hit Sichuan, China.

As a result, the 19th till the 21st of May was declared days of mourning.

However, it seems that some take the opportunity to slack off and temporarily stop their services. I’m not happy about that and I am utterly unimpressed and disappointed. People may mourn for the death, but live must go on.

We should continue to work hard to rebuild the damaged, including buildings, souls or whatsoever, and not use the incident as an excuse to skip your duties. You may go around pledging donations for the quake victims, but you may not use the excuse to cheat others’ money for yourself.

By the way, all of us Senior 2 students of Tshung Tsin will go round school collecting donations for the victims of the earthquake tomorrow (Thursday) in the name of the school. The money collected will go to Tzu Chi and they’ll send the money to China, somehow. Please donate generously, I urge you. Going hungry for a day is nothing compared to those suffering from hunger for days in the earthquake.

A Dose of Maplestory… (8)

May 21, 2008

Tsusaka’s an Orange Mushroom! He has been cursed by MapleStory for being away for so long!!!! NOOO!!!

Just joking.

That Orange Mushroom suit is one of the many monster dress-ups that are introduced in conjunction with MapleSEA’s 3rd anniversary celebration. They are given away by maple admins and through special daily quests in the form of essence.

It will last for 1 whole hour, and while you’re in that ridiculous form, you’re practically wasting your time. In other words, while you’re in that form, you cannot attack monsters, you cannot use items, you cannot use skills, you can do nothing.

I say bleh. Happy 3rd Anniversary, MapleSEA. Nobody plays Maple nowadays anymore, at least neither of my classmates are playing MapleStory anymore and they prefer newer ones like Cabal or Grand Chase. Bleh. Let’s see how long you can last in the process of natural selection. :D

Improve The Quality of Youtube Videos!

May 16, 2008

How to improve the quality of Youtube videos?

Here’s how: add this to the end of the video URL: &fmt=18

Like for example:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaclqrde2CM

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaclqrde2CM&fmt=18

You can go and see which is better. The result is very obvious and you will notice it. There’s no more blur.

It is featured in the beta version of Youtube, but actually, it can also be used in the old version.
